Unisys has won a five-year European-wide contract extension from Bavarian State Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection to provide IT infrastructure modernization services. The contract duration includes a three-year base period and two option years. Datamonitor estimates the deal to be worth $40m.
Unisys is expected to replace existing PCs and printers with new models, and will upgrade the ministry’s IT infrastructure to improve server and network efficiency. It will also implement virtualization technologies for managing storage capacity. It will continue to provide services including email management. The services will be managed and delivered through an operations center in Munich.
Since the original deal in 2002, Unisys has deployed a full-service IT infrastructure at more than 200 sites, modernized more than 14,400 workplaces, and implemented 78 peripheral server centers.
