Unisys Corp has turned to GSI-Danet Inc, Reston, Virginia for Open Systems Interconnection tools to develop Open Systems compatibility for its products. Unisys is taking the GSI-Danet OsiTest family of conformance test and applications tools for implemention at its computer research and development facilities throughout the world. The OsiTest suite is designed to ensure that any computer manufacturer’s products fully conform to all of the intricacies of the seven-layer model. Unisys notes that it is not practical to test for Open Systems compliance after products are developed and that the GSI-Danet suite will enable it to develop products that conform to the standards from the start of their development cycle. OsiTest provides test and diagnostic environments for FTAM implementations over packet-switched wide- or local-area networks; X400 message handling systems over packet-switched wide and local nets; and X25 applications for connection across packet-switched networks. GSI-Danet Inc was founded only last year, as the North American affiliate of Group Generale de Service Informatique of Paris, and Danet Gmbh of Darmstadt, West Germany. It is a member of the Corporation for Open Systems.
