UNISYS TEAMS WITH MITSUI IN HOPE OF BECOMING A MAJOR IN VIETNAM

By CBR Staff Writer

Unisys Corp and its Japanese partner in Nippon Unisys Kaisha, Mitsui & Co reckon that now that Vietnam has cast off Communism, it offers major opportunities, and they plan to work together on an information technology strategy for the year 2000 and beyond. The pair plan to investigate how they can help Vietnam address its technology needs in education and telecommunications, once US trade sanctions are lifted. They signed a memorandum of understanding with Vietnam’s Science Ministry last month and, post-sanctions, plan to send two Vietnamese graduates for advanced study in the US or Australia with a view to their returning to teach in Vietnamese colleges.
