UNISYS SIX-, EIGHT-WAY 2200/900s

Unisys Corp has now added the promised six- and eight-processor models of its top-end 2200/900 mainframe; the new models mean that the Open 2200 family now offers performance growth of 620 times without software modifications. The new models will be available early in the second quarter 1993. Using the Unisys Extended Transaction Capacity system, which can couple up to four multiprocessor hosts, 2200 Series users can now connect up to 32 processors; Unisys says it has installed multi-host XTC systems at over a dozen sites, including Lufthansa, Air France, and All Nippon Airways. The six-processor model can be partitioned into a two-processor and a four-processor system, or into three two-processor systems. The eight-processor model can be partitioned into a two-processor and a six-processor system, two four-processor systems, or four two-processor systems. The company gave no prices for the new models.
