UNISYS SIGNS US WEST FOR SELF-HEALING NETWORK

By CBR Staff Writer

Unisys Corp has signed US West Inc’s US West Communications for the company’s Self-Healing Network Service, a customised digital, high-speed network with self-healing capabilities: several key Unisys locations in the Twin Cities – Minneapolis and St Paul, Minnesota are now connected to the network, which will provide integrated voice and data communications: the network implements a ring topology using fibre optic transports to provide robust, high-speed data and voice transmissions at a capacity of 560Mbps to provide a virtual fault-tolerant network – messages are sent in both directions on the ring so that if a node anywhere in the ring fails, the message is delivered via the other direction.
