The new Unisys V510 and V530 mainframes, successors to the top models in the Burroughs B29-39-4900 line of mid-range batch-oriented CPUs, mentioned briefly at their US launch (CI No 649), are now announced in the UK. The new models are in ECL, and come with up to 80Mb and 160Mb main memory respectively, and the V530 also has a 40Kb cache. The V510 ships in the fourth quarter and the V530 early next year; base prices are $950,000 for a 20Mb V510, $1.8m for a 40Mb V530, to which the 510 is field-upgradable.
