Unisys Corp introduced the UP1000 Uninterruptible Power Supply for personal computers and peripherals at the show, saying that while most other uninterruptible power supplies designed for micros provide only standby backup power, the UP1000 is on line continuously, offering the significant advantages of constantly monitoring and conditioning the commercial power supply for protection from such fluctuations as power surges, sags, spikes and brown-outs: the UP1000 is compact enough to fit on a desk top, and compatible with a wide variety of personal computer systems; it carries a suggested list price of $1,000.
