Unisys Corp is so keen to get shot off its Santa Clara disk drive plant – the old Memorex disk plant – that despite its pressing need to generate and conserve cash, it is to finance the management buy-out planned for the plant, says Computer Systems News. Unisys will put up most of the cash for the buy-out, setting a five-year repayment term – no details of the amount were given. The operation, which employs 1,140 people, will face the world under the new name Sequel Inc and will make head-disk assemblies for Unisys and others, and will refurbish them.
