Unisys Espana SA has announced the avalability of the first version of Unix in Spanish: based on System V.3.2 and developed jointly with AT&T Co, it is implemented on Unisys’ U6000 family; the new version supports a set of 8-bit characters for the Spanish alphabet and enables the definition of a familiar environment via sequence ordering, full-stops, commas, decimal points, monetary signs and such like: Unix is now sold in the main European languages including Portugese, Norwegian and Swedish, and soon in Italian, enabling multilingual work environments since several different languages can be used at the same time from various terminals.
