Unisys Corp has joined a growing list, including Microsoft Corp and Oracle Corp, that have endorsed Rational Software Inc’s UML Unified Modelling Language (CI No 3,075), a graphical object modelling language designed to eliminate object oriented method fragmentation. UML has gone to the Object Management Group as a proposed standard based on the Group’s Object Analysis and Design requests for proposals. Unisys is working with Rational to ensure UML is compatible with its UREP Universal Repository; the UML proposal has also been backed by Hewlett-Packard Co, Icon Computing Inc, Intellicorp Inc, MCI Systemhouse Inc and Texas Instruments Inc’s software subsidiary.
