The US services and server vendor said it expects to employ 2,000 people at the center, which will provide software development, maintenance, business process outsourcing and technology services.

In what may be a nod to US sensitivities about the export of jobs to India, the firm said it has been sourcing globally for 20 years, and that the Banagalore project was an extension of this.

Unisys expects the facility to be up and running within a year. The company already has offices in India, and a number of key Indian companies are clients.
