A major restructuring at Unisys Corp in the wake of its acquisition of Convergent Inc as expected sees Convergent chief and Hewlett-Packard Co alumnus Paul Ely elevated to executive vice-president and president of a new Network Computing Group that will take in the whole of Convergent plus all Unisys’ other Unix operations, personal computers, office automation and local area networks, creating a business doing $2,000m-plus, 20% of the total. Ely also becomes a director, as does chief financial officer Curtis Hessler, who also becomes an executive vice president in charge of defence systems. Executive vice-president James Unruh gets commercial marketing – he was in charge of international marketing. Se nior vice-president Dr Hollis Cas well becomes president of the new Computer Systems Group, in charge of developing, manufacturing and supporting the company’s two incom patible mainframe lines, as well as imaging technologies and applicati ons generators. Jan Lindelow, sen ior vice-president in charge of line-of-business strategies, lost most of his responsibilities to the new groups, and quits at year-end.
