Commenting on the Open System Foundation, Unisys Corp – in the rival AT&T-Sun camp – said that the the initiative recognises that the real user demand for an open computer environment in general and for a standard Unix operating system in particular cannot be ignored: what is not clear is whether this initiative will genuinely contribute to the timely standardisation and expansion of the Unix system and the answer to that question will ultimately determine the position we take in respect to the Foundation; Unisys Unix systems revenue is expected to approach $800m in 1988.
