Commenting on its year-end figures (page seven) Unisys Corp says it expects the economy in Europe and Japan to improve modestly this year: for 1994, the company says its goal is to achieve further improvement in profits and to strengthen its capital structure – We plan for slightly higher revenue overall, with good growth in our commercial computer business, it said, adding that total orders showed good growth in the fourth quarter, with the strongest growth in the US commercial business in five years and a modest increase in government orders; there was good growth in the Asian and Latin American markets but Europe experienced a substantial decline; the strongest order gains were in information services, software, Unix systems and personal computers and Unisys said it was particularly encouraged by continued new account business; in 1993, it saw strong cash flow from operations, an all-time low inventory level of less than $800m and a reduction in its once enromous net debt to $1,100m.
