UNISYS – AN UNPOPULAR CHOICE OF NAME

By CBR Staff Writer

Most people, even those who pride themselves on being iconoclasts, are nothing more than cuddly old conservatives deep down, and so it is difficult to find anybody who believes that Unisys is a better name than either Burroughs or Sperry (and many of us still think that the latter sealed its fate when it dropped the Univac name for its computers); most violent reaction to the Unisys name so far was collected by the Los Angeles Times, which quotes one Chris Locke of a Pittsburgh software company declaring Unisys? It sounds like urinalysis – it’s really disgusting.
