The Unisource NV consortium said yesterday that it had more than trebled sales and cut its losses in 1994, its third year of existence. It says turnover rose to the equivalent of $600m last year from $189m in 1993. On a comparable basis, sales growth was slightly less impressive but was still 80%, and Unisource cut its loss to $26m from $32m in 1993. It said existing operations had performed well but that it was still in a build-up phase. Expansion of sales outlets and start-up of new businesses (negatively) influenced results, it reported. It does not expect profits this year. Last year, it took a 20% stake in WorldPartners, and announced plans to form Uniworld with AT&T Corp. It is owned by Koniklijke PTT Nederland NV, Telia AB of Sweden and the Swiss PTT. Telefonica de Espana SA has still not formally joined but is still planning to.
