In a deal that privately-held UniPrise Systems Inc hopes will be worth tens of millions of dollars to it, Hewlett-Packard Co is integrating the company’s Intera database management software into new versions of the OpenView network and system management suite tailored for Oracle and Informix database users. Irvine, California-based UniPrise’s Intera software is effectively a management application which can manages a database’s native management system. The manager of managers is being resold within HP’s management system. UniPrise, with less than 50 staff, also develops and sells the Access/DAL Windows and Mac database access middleware it acquired from BEA Systems Inc last year. OpenView database management packages for Oracle and Informix are priced from $500 to $12,000.
