UNIFY TEAMS WITH PYRAMID ON RE-ENTRANT VERSION OF ACCELL 4GL ENVIRONMENT

By CBR Staff Writer

The only time a company ever admits that its hardware or software product doesn’t run at just below the speed of light is when they introduce a faster version. Now Unify Corp is to boost the performance of its Accell 4GL product line in conjunction with Pyramid Technology Corp, with the aim of making it more suitable for the high-performance transaction processing applications in which Pyramid is interested. The co-development project will result in an Accell 4GL application server, enabling as many as 1,000 users to share the applications generation resource through workstations, X-Terminals or dumb terminals. The work involves multi-threading the Accell Manager, making the generator code re-entrant so that only a single copy is needed at run-time, and caching code in shared memory, so that hundreds of users can access the re-entrant applications. Communications between terminal drivers and the application will also be improved to boost terminal input-output performance. No dates for availablility were given.
