System’s integration firm UNI says it has been nominated network supervisor at the central Moscow branch of Incombank, one of Russia’s largest commercial banks. According to vice-president Vitaly Freed, without the company’s say so no other supplier is likely to be considered for involvement in the bank’s networking plans. Incombank was the first installation of SynOptics Communications Inc equipment in Russia and there are plans to build a wide area network covering the 21 regional affiliates and 30 Moscow branches using the technology. UNI estimates that it has sold Incombank equipment worth a total of $4m to $5m in the last 18 months.
