Tandem Computers Inc’s San Jose-based Ungermann-Bass Inc local area networking equipment unit unit has launched version 16.8 of its NetDirector network management product, extending support for the company’s newer Access/One Enterprise Hub products. Management support has been enhanced for both the 12-port ASM320 and the new 24-port ASM324 10Base-T Ethernet concentrators, as well as the company’s new self-booting ASM701 Ethernet supervisor module. In addition, NetDirector 16.8 extends additional network management support to the Access/Open system for third-party hardware and software integration. Ungermann-Bass last month announced NetDirector for Unix, which runs on Hewlett-Packard Co’s HP OpenView system; a new version is expected to follow later in the year with better integration with the OS/2 version. NetDirector 16.8 is now shipping, and costs $3,500 to $19,500 depending on system configuration.
