2016 could be a year of change for IT employees, with the majority planning to change jobs.

2015 IT salaries increased by 2.8% in the UK, but many (31%) are looking to move elsewhere due to pay concerns.

Despite workers in the tech sector being awarded with pay rises of over 2.5% by a third of employers, which is the largest proportion of employers of any sector, many (63%) want to leave.

The activity on the job front is expected to be mirrored by employers, with 76% planning to increase their headcount. While lots of IT professionals may be looking elsewhere for better pay, many organisations are not looking to increase their salaries.

In 2016, 66% are planning to increase salaries, which is a decrease from the 71% that planned to do so this year.

James Milligan, director of Hays Information Technology, said: "Firms that cannot offer substantial salaries will find it difficult to attract and retain the most skilled employees and many organisations will be working hard to ensure their appeal goes beyond pay alone."

These findings come from the Hays, UK Salary and Recruiting Trends, 2016.
