UNCERTAINTY AMONG IBM PC-DOS USERS

By CBR Staff Writer

Plenty of Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt being created by IBM over the Pers-onal System/2 and its OS/2 operating system, one of the more conten-tious suggestions put around by company representatives being that PC-DOS users who don’t upgrade will find themselves in the position of System 360 users who took their time about converting to MVS: in retrospect, the initial generation of 370 machines which replaced the IBM 360 line in 1970 came to be re garded as one of the least cost-ef-fective upgrades in the history of computing, and it wasn’t until about five or six years after launch of 370 that conversion to MVS became the appropriate move.
