Unbound Medicine said its mobile platform will grant access to current medical resources using a wireless internet connection to an online portal produced by pharmaceutical company Merck & Co, which features a manual of diagnosis and therapy, journal abstracts, a guide to diagnostic tests and Reuters Medical News.

The company added that the Personal Search Assistant tool allows clinicians to query medical articles in the Medline database from their handheld or wireless device in real-time without access fees or advertising content.

The wireless option is compatible with cellular phones with web-browsing capabilities, smartphones and other wireless devices that use Pocket PC, Blackberry, or Palm OS operating systems. It follows the launch of Mobile MerckMedicus, which was designed for non-wireless Personal Digital Assistants and introduced by Unbound Medicine and Merck last year.
