The UKTV network will use Ensequence software to create interactive applications that enhance individual programs across UKTV’s 10 channels, enabling digital satellite viewers to ‘press red’ during television programs.

Each application will provide commercial partners with lead-generating opportunities, and a dedicated sponsors area will help to increase UKTV’s commercial impact by retaining viewers during advertising breaks.

The first applications created with Ensequence software will be broadcast from June 5 to July 10 to support UKTV G2’s coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2006. The applications will support on-air programming throughout the tournament, promote UKTV’s mobile and web site activity and enable viewers to participate in football competitions.

UKTV plans to maintain a broad schedule of interactive TV applications built on Ensequence software this year, developed initially from 10 core templates that in turn can be re-versioned and reskinned easily into distinct applications.

Ensequence and UKTV have entered into a three-year licensing agreement for the ‘on-Q Create’ suite, ‘on-Q Publish’ suite, ‘on-Q Ready’ suite and ‘on-Q Air’ suite. UKTV is using Ensequence tools exclusively for the duration of the agreement.

Our software makes it easy for UKTV’s Web team, typically familiar with Java and HTML, to develop engaging interactive TV programming. This announcement underscores the ease-of-use of our products, said Dalen Harrison, Ensequence president and CEO.
