UK’s INTEGRATED MICRO TO BUY PARALLEL

By CBR Staff Writer

It came as a bit of a surprise to the Consett, County Durham company, which didn’t think it would be wrapped up until next week, but General Automation Inc says it now has definitive agreement for sale of the technology and assets of its Santa Cruz, California-based acquisition, Parallel Computer Inc, to Integrated Micro Products Ltd. Integrated develops and manufactures Unix boards and systems, and General Auto’s Aston Technology Ltd in Birmingham is a customer. Integrated, with annual sales of about UKP6m, will pay an undisclosed sum in cash, notes and securities for the assets. Parallel specialised in fault-tolerant Unix supermicros.
