The number of messages sent in Q1 shows steady growth, with a record 3.9 billion UK messages. The total represents a 33% increase on the same period last year, which saw 2.6 billion text messages sent.
Globally, 75 billion text messages were sent in Q1 2002. The figure is an increase of more than 50% on 2001’s Q1 total. The MDA expects 360 billion messages will be sent globally during 2002.
