Compaq Computer Corp’s largest order to date for its ProLinea line of personal computers comes from the UK Post Office Counters Ltd: the Post Office expects the contract will lead to the delivery of about 1,000 boxes over the next three years, depending on how many sub-post offices take up its Capture system; sub-postmasters act as agents to the Post Office and will have to pay a fee for the system; Capture provides cash accounting services and daily and weekly summary reports for Post Office customers, such as Girobank; the ProLineas have 4Mb and 84Mb hard disk; the Windows-based software was developed by iT, the Post Office’s information technology business, Farnborough, Hampshire, which also provides training and support services; all hardware is supplied by Systemhouse Inter-national UK Ltd, a subsidiary of Ottawa, Canada-based SHL Systemhouse Inc, which is a Compaq systems reseller; Compaq has some 5,000 personal computers already installed throughout Post Office sites.
