The UK is to bear the brunt of job cuts announced on Friday by Santa Clara, California-based Software Publishing Corp, which says it is cancelling further development of its Superbase relational database for Windows, and plans to reduce its full-time and contract work force by about 10%, or 50 employees, and take a non-recurring charge of about $2m to cover the costs: the company says the reduction, primarily in the UK, consolidates its research and development laboratories into two locations from three; the company says that while it is cancelling future development of Superbase, no other products Fwill be affected; it now intends to focus on the development of Harvard Graphics and other products in the information presentation and information sharing fields; the company will maintain the current Superbase code and continue to sell, service and support Superbase – which makes it sound as if it would like to sell the user base.
