Time was when British students would labor away on building sites or behind the counter of fast food restaurants during their vacations to make ends meet. Not however, if they are studying an IT subject. A party of 25 Cambridge University PhD and undergraduate students have just returned from Silicon Valley where companies like Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, DEC and Sun laid out the red carpet for them. To round off the trip, a cocktail party was laid on by four leading venture capital companies to ensure that the students returned home with dollar signs in their eyes.
