A network of some 1,800 cameras covering every railway station and approach road in London, with the intention to combat crime and terrorism will be switched on this week, according to the London Evening Standard. The cameras are said to be of a very high quality, completely moving away from the blurred images generated by older equipment. A separate system covering the Underground system will also kick off, with thousands of cameras linked to British Transport Police headquarters by a fiber optic loop.
