The online ICT exam is currently being piloted in 1,750 secondary schools, but ministers have criticized it as an unnecessary burden.
Teachers have also voiced their disproval, saying that the test is not up to date with the latest technological developments such as digital image editing and music sequencing. They also complained that the Key Stage 3 ICT exam focused too much on spreadsheets and word processing.
