The Planning and Regulatory Services Online National Project, led by Wandsworth borough council and funded by ODPM, supports schemes to implement e-planning services, enabling authorities to process applications more quickly, conduct consultations electronically, and provide online access to local development plans.
The funding will enable the Planning and Regulatory Services Online National Project (PARSOL), to deliver its key projects: ePlanning and eBuilding control service delivery standards; expert system scripts; an extension of the fast track agent accreditation, including proposals for a national scheme; PARSOL exchange application consultation pilot and associated standards; and XML schemas for local development framework documents. All projects are due to be completed by March 2006.
Alongside the PARSOL schemes, the ODPM-funded planning portal enables central and local government, planning professionals and individuals to submit and manage planning applications more efficiently.
Jim Fitzpatrick said, Innovative e-enabled services are key to transforming the planning system to meet the needs of individuals and businesses. The funding will enable local authorities, through the PARSOL planning project, to continuing making the vision of e-enabled planning services a reality.
