The UK-based company reported half-yearly sales of GBP22.3 million ($37.7 million), up 27% compared to GBP17.6 million ($29.7m) in the same period last year. Though it made its first acquisition (e-business consulting firm Rebus) since its 2002 IPO during this period, Detica still achieved 21% organic growth. Its profit after tax was GBP2.1 million ($3.6 million), up 10% on the year-ago figure.

Its biggest success came in its government sector, which grew 66% as a result of some significant project wins, most notably a business process consulting contract for services at the UK’s Government Communications Headquarters in Cheltenham. Detica expects this, together with another UK government agency contract, to deliver about GBP20 million ($33.8 million) to its top line over the next three years.

The company’s commercial sector shrank by 6%, but the company said that of late it had seen a return to growth in this area. Revenue for the full year is expected to exceed GBP50 million ($84.5 million), and profit before tax of up to GBP9 million ($15.2 million).
