The British government – obsessed with its image – has appointed a mysterious webmaster to sort out the chaos on its web site. While Prime Minister Tony Blair has posed for photographs with Microsoft Corp boss Bill Gates and has promised to wire up every school to the internet, the government’s own web site is strewn with errors. Inaccurate and incomplete information has been given on public appointments and the name of ministries abolished when the government was elected in May are still displayed. The name of the webmaster has not been released apparently because he is a civil servant.
