UK FIRM MUSCAT TO PUSH AGENTALERT FOR THE INTRANET

By CBR Staff Writer

Search engine software outfit Cambridge, UK-based Muscat Ltd is looking to cut a dash through much of the current so-called push technology with its AgentAlert search tool. Muscat’s latest intranet product is an extension to its FX search engine and enables the delivery of personalized information and message services. AgentAlert enables web browsers to set up agents or profiles of interest covering a desired topic or subject matter. These can be saved as personal briefings and each time a relevant piece of information or page update is posted on the web, the Agent extracts and delivers to the desktop or email box. The Agent technology uses ‘cookies’ or a PIN ID to deliver the personal service. AgentAlert comes with a footprint of 300K. Muscat FX comes free for index and search up to 1000 documents, 900 pounds for extended index. Indexing solution prices go from 4000 pounds to 13,000 pounds.
