The UK Department of Trade & Industry has awarded a UKP1.3m two and a half year contract to the National Computing Centre to promote the benefits of telecommunications technology to British Industry: funding will come equally from the Department and the NCC and project aims include providing advice for small to medium-sized companies on products and services from facsimile to ISDN, wide area data networking and mobile communications; to introduce formal qualifications in the field of communications; to stimulate the development of applications and the take-up of new technologies and to carry out a survey of users of telecommunications and the industry as a whole to identify important issues and trends; the results of the survey will be published in early 1990..pl 72
