Shoppers in the UK would rather buy online through a digital television than a PC, according to research out this week from pollster Gallup. The survey of 1004 people, commissioned by set-top box manufacturer Pace Micro Technology Plc to celebrate digital TV’s first birthday in the UK, said that 42% of people would prefer TV to 26% that would use PCs to shop at home. Additionally, 65% of the so-called PC generation of 16 to 24 year-olds favored interactive TV shopping to PCs. But the humble PC has not passed its sell-by date yet – 52% of respondents said they would prefer using a PC for email and web access, compared to 21% who would select TV.
