UK AND JAPAN AGREE TO ABOLISH MONOPOLIES

The UK Department of Trade & Industry and the Japanese Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications have signed an accord to abolish the monopolies of British Telecom Plc and Kokusai Denshin Denwa Co in operating value-added network and data communications services between the two countries, allowing third parties to get in on the business: the UK is seeking a similar agreement with the US authorities.
