The extended contract will enable MoD consolidate the its legacy IT systems to deliver an efficient information infrastructure

By CBR Staff Writer

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has extended their Boldon James contract to a site license for over 300,000 users as a part of the Defence Information Infrastructure (DII/F) programme.

The extended contract will enable MoD consolidate the its legacy IT systems to deliver a single, efficient information infrastructure.

Boldon James SAFEmail secure information exchange applications will enable MoD to cover the whole of the secure network developed for them by the ATLAS Consortium.

Boldon James CEO Martin Sugden said the company worked with ATLAS over an 8 year period, meeting the MoD’s stringent requirements for secure information exchange in some of their complex environments.

"The decision to take out a site licence enables ATLAS and the MoD to extend the use of this capability to the whole of DII in a cost-effective manner," Sugden said.

The ATLAS Consortium comprises HP Enterprise Services, Fujitsu, Cassidian and Logica. The
DII will support 300,000 users across all MoD locations with both fixed and deployed sites managing over 500 separate software applications.
