UK’s Environment Agency has awarded a contract to cyber security application provider QinetiQ and content management application company SynApps Solutions to develop a cloud based case management system.
The new system will help the Environment Agency employees to handle changes in safety regulations over dams from the Flood and Water Management Act 2010.
The project, managed by QinetiQ, integrates SynApps applications with hardware and services from QinetiQ and Cloud Alliance Partner Skyscape.
According to the companies, the new system will be based on the Documentum EDM/EDRM platform from EMC as provided under QinetiQ’s Case Management in the Cloud service.
The system is expected to help the Environment Agency comply to the new legislation, better manage information and handle larger volumes of data.
Environment Agency regulatory team leader and project executive Roger Lewis said that the agency expects the system to be easy for staff to use.
"It will help us to perform our regulatory role more effectively and keep English dams safe," Lewis said.
Following deployment, testing and data migration from the old system, the new system is expected to start its operations from mid-December 2013.
