As a result of the agreement, the Volvo Group sites expect to be able to leverage common terms and conditions for using UGS’ Teamcenter Manufacturing software, a product knowledge management and collaboration platform, and e-factory software, a digital manufacturing program.

Tecnomatix’ applications will also be provided to enable global coordination in manufacturing process planning, after the manufacturing software group was acquired by UGS in January last year.

The Volvo Group will utilize UGS’ open strategy at its manufacturing units around the world, which have different product data management (PDM), computer-aided design (CAD) and production systems.

UGS views this latest deal as confirmation of its growing leadership in digital manufacturing, a product lifecycle management strategy that focuses on improving every aspect of how a company builds its products.
