UEI Plc, United Electronic Industries, Newbury, Berkshire, has proposed marriage to Oxford Instruments Plc, Oxford, and the two companies are reviewing the potential gains. UEI is capitalised at UKP239m, Oxford Instruments at UKP209m. Oxford rose 13P to 488p, UEI fell 3p to 383p.
