Video conferencing service provider, UCi2i, has released a new browser-based application that allows users to include people into a virtual meeting room (VMR) by calling them.

V-Control comes with an inbuilt address book, status updates, a microphone, audio mute controls and a pin code that should improve ease-of-use for users.

UCi2i said the application could also help businesses ensure that VMRs are used efficiently and regularly throughout the day while saving money on concierge fees.

Michael Grant, founder and MD of UCi2i, said: "With this application, our users can take complete control of all their multi-party calls using a single interface.

"The meeting owner can now add and remove participants at the touch of a button, allowing them to pull in the right expertise when they need it, regardless of where they are. Also, with a suite of in-built features, such as participant mute and messaging, managing larger virtual meetings can now occur effortlessly."

In August 2013, Grant told CBR how applications and higher speed Internet connections are helping video conferencing develop into a reliable communication method.
