Ubicom, a provider of networking and multimedia processor offerings, has introduced its IP8100 family of network processors that are targeted towards NxG offerings for consumer, SOHO and SMB applications for both retail and service provider deployments.

The company claimed that its new processors provide best in class performance for routing, security, and advanced services; and allows line rate routing, VPN and other networking functions for fiber and other NxG networks.

The IP8100 processors comes with an upgraded memory subsystem, which includes a 1066 MHz DDR3/DDR2 interface.

Ubicom said that its platform also offers features such as StreamEngine automatic QoS to prioritise latency sensitive traffic like streaming video and VoIP; and Wireless Intelligent Stream Handling to optimise wireless traffic within the home.

Ubicom president and chief executive officer Gangesh Ganesan said that the company’s IP8100 network processors enable service providers to provide value-added features and services using the infrastructure to the home and to small businesses at the right cost.
