Tandem Computers Inc’s wholly-owned and independently operated subsidiary, Santa Clara, California-based UB Networks has reported fourth quarter pre-tax profits of $5.8m on record revenues of $96.0m, up from $86.3m for the same period last year. Revenues grew 11% in the quarter and, excluding divested businesses, grew 21% over the same period of 1993. UB Networks continued to show performance improvements across the company, reporting increased gross margins and record revenue per employee, stated Roel Pieper, president and chief executive officer of UB Networks. He added that the company continues to see strong demand for the Access/One enterprise hub and Access/Stax departmental products, both in new accounts and its existing customer base. The positive results could help Tandem to find itself a willing buyer now that it has admitted that the business is on the block.
