Tandem Computers Inc’s Santa Clara, California-headquartered UB Networks Inc has announced the Access/Stax Micro-8 and Access/Stax Micro-16, two Ethernet workgroup hubs aimed at small workgroup local networks and scalable local network installations. The offerings are stand-alone, unmanaged 10Base-T hubs with eight or 16 unshielded twisted pair ports and an alternate media expansion port, says the company. According to UB, as a local network grows, the uplink capabilities provided by the offerings will provide a migration path to its Access/Stax 16 and Access/Stax 24 managed stackable hubs. The 8-port is priced at $245, with the 16-port version coming in at $565. Both are available immediately.
