Twitter’s new-look follows Facebook

Currently offered to a small group of users, the redesigned layout would be made available to all users ‘in coming weeks’.

Twitter has rolled out its new look-the latest in a series of measures to attract new users, with several users claiming that the revamped look is similar to the design of Facebook’s profile pages.

Currently being offered to a small group of users, the redesigned layout could be accessed by all users ‘in coming weeks’.

Twitter said in a statement that the new layout comes with major changes including tweets receiving the most engagement will appear slightly larger to make an account’s best content easy to find.

"Tweets can be pinned on the top of the page so that followers can "see what you’re all about"", the micro-blogging service added.

"Users can select which timeline to view when checking out other profiles. Options are: tweets, tweets with photos/videos, or tweets and replies."

In addition, cover photos selected by users will appear full-width across the top of the profile page, with the profile picture on the left-hand side.

The micro blogging service has also been trialling several new advertising techniques, including ads that integrating download links for mobile apps.
