Twitter upgrades web-based search results

The upgrade will allow users to display photos and accounts in results apart from recent searches as well as social information, as they type their questions.

By CBR Staff Writer

Twitter has reportedly upgraded the web version search of its service to provide a new global search-like experience for its users.

The upgrade will allow users to display photos and accounts in results apart from recent searches as well as social information, as they type their questions.

The upgrades include people results, which will be displayed with search results on the top, and photos will now be part of the search results.

Following the changes, the new search listings page will first display people results and then the top three tweets from the topic, followed by photo results with additional top tweets.

The search box will also feature drop downs for recent searches and saved searches.

Last month, Twitter revealed plans to trial an ad tailoring scheme that allows advertisers to use their own customer databases to view ‘promoted tweet’ ads, targeting people who are interested in their products or services.
