Twitter is planning to introduce a button to report abuse following a petition urging it to improve its procedures to protect users after a journalist was threatened with rape.
The petition was signed by over 40,000 people to support Caroline Criado-Perez, who was threatened with rape tweets following her campaign to keep women on British banknotes.
Kim Graham, who filed the petition on Change.org, said "Abuse on Twitter is common. Sadly too common. And it frequently goes ignored.
"We need Twitter to recognise that its current reporting system is below required standards. It currently requires users to search for details on how to report someone for abuse. [This is] a feature that should be available on each user’s page," Graham said.
