Tulip Computers NV, Den Bosch, Netherlands has been havering about building a new plant for a couple of years now, and generated considerable controversy at home when there were suggestions that it might be in Ireland. The company has finally reached a decision, and it will start building a new factory and office complex in the southern Netherlands town of Rosmalen this autumn. It will invest around $20m to build the complex and expects to move there in 1996. It said it had not yet decided how the project would be financed. It can be financed off-balance or on-balance. The decision has not yet been taken, it said. Production capacity for personal computers will be gradually increased to around 300,000 a year from the current 150,000. The 180,000 square foot complex will house a system board stuffing operation, assembly and test and Tulip’s head office, research and development department, European logistical centre and international marketing and sales departments will also transfer there.
